With our immersive, multi-sensory activities, we want visitors to go home with heads full of story souvenirs they can tell and retell. Most of our experiences are designed specifically for Tour Operators and larger groups but smaller groups of up to ten people can directly book our Sheepdogs at Work experience.
SHEEPDOGS AT WORK
PUBLIC - MAX 20 VISITORS PER SESSION 
45 MINS Immerse yourself in stories of four generations of hill farming in this unique part of the world.
- Stand in the field beside Jamese and discover how, with a whistle, a whisper or a gesture, he can direct his highly trained working dogs to herd herd a flock of remarkably well-behaved sheep.
- Help Jamese open gates and lead the flock into traditional wooden pens. Breathe in the scent of fresh mountain air and reach over to touch the sheep, their springy wool like candy floss.
- Take shelter in the viewing gallery built with Donegal quartz stone and marvel at the panoramic views of Slieve gallion, Lough Neagh and the Mourne mountain range.
- Nip in to the Country Barn for a cup of tea and a freshly baked scone. (coming soon)

SHEPHERD’S LIFE
GROUPS OF 1-60
2-3 HOURS Experience the life of a real Irish shepherd in this immersive experience that has been designed specifically for tour operators:
First spend 45 mins out in the fields and fresh air helping Jamese to herd the flock by learning how to issue instructions to his talented working dogs.
The next 45 minutes happens in the Shearing Shed where you can see some rare breeds of sheep and watch Jamese as he expertly shears a sheep using traditional handshears as his grandfather taught him and then with modern clippers. Get to hold and pet a lamb.
The final Fleece-to-Fashion stage of this tour takes place in the Country Barn. Walk through the doors into this recently constructed building with epic floor to ceiling windows that give you incredible views right across Ireland. Feel the warmth and smell the turf fire. Follow a fleece from washing, dyeing with natural colours and create yarn using a spinning wheel, then really embrace the giant spirit with some giant knitting. Understand the key properties of wool and it’s place in our sustainable future.

If you're looking for a true Irish experience look no further. Glenshane Country Farm was amazing.
